ETNIES HOLIDAY FESTIVAL

Another December… another chance to give back. This year’s etnies Holiday Festival welcomed hundreds of kids to the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest for an afternoon with Santa and the pros. Nick Garcia, Devine, Alex Midler, Brophy, Twitch and Chris Del Moro joined in the fun with skate demos, Santa portraits, arts & crafts and new shoes for all! Yeah, the free etnies are always a crowd-pleaser, but these kids REALLY loved high-fiving Santa as he pushed past on his skateboard. That’s our kind of crowd… Thanks to all the kids for giving us a reason to get into the spirit of the season.

ETNIES WINTER BREAK SKATE CAMP STARTS 12/19

Choose this winter break to spend a week at one of the best skate camps around! The Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest has been running camps since 2003 and have worked to make it an experience to remember. Their staff barbeques lunch for all campers on a daily basis. Specific clinics covered during camp lesson times include the basics of ollies, how to kick flip, how to grind, bowl riding, and skating transitions. Each camper will have the opportunity to make their own skateboard deck (included with camp). All camp activities will be held by experienced Skatepark staff who have a proven successful track record in improving skateboard skills. Hone your skills on a variety of the best Skatepark terrain around, including the skull bowl, the flow bowl, two large fl ow courses, Orange County’s only cradle, and world class street areas. Each participant will receive an official Etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest t-shirt with enrollment and a lunch/drink each day. All proceeds go directly to keeping the Park free.

Fee: $195 per person

Limited to 10 per session

HIDDEN FALLS SKATE PARK OPENS

Located in southeast Henderson near Horizon Drive and Horizon Ridge Parkway, Hidden Falls Park is a 60-acre site featuring neighborhood and community park amenities, such as restrooms, picnic ramadas, tot lots, basketball court, open play turf, splash pad, and dog park as well as sports facilities, interpretive signage, and passive and active recreational opportunities. Future development may include tennis courts and an amphitheater. The skate park includes street features such as hand rails, ledges, and stairs.

ROCKAWAY BEACH SKATE PARK COMPLETED

This skate park is approximately 15,700 square feet and was built by California Skateparks. The design strikes a balance between both street and transition styles. It features a plaza section complete with a variety of grind ledges, a set of stairs with a handrail and hubba ledges, and a solid hipped bank. In addition to the plaza section, the park also features an entire transition area that includes various bowled corners, rolled edges, and a volcano.

HARVARD SKATE PLAZA OPENS

California Skateparks recently completed another addition to the growing Skate Spot network in Los Angeles, CA. Located at Jackie Tatum Park in Los Angles California, the skate plaza is a welcome addition to the network of spots in L.A. To meet the requirements of the grant that funded the project, a 10,000 square foot plaza was integrated into the small plot of land that was available at the park. The unique design incorporates a diverse combination of materials, colors and paving patterns punctuated with artistic elements, aesthetic detailing and landscaping. The design was constructed using new methodologies and techniques and integrated into an existing park master plan. One of the greatest aspects of the project was the revitalization of Jackie Tatum Park. The development of the skate spot resulted in another run down City Park being upgraded and improved while enhancing the neighborhood and the quality of life for the residents in the surrounding community. SITE was hired to create the construction documents for this project.
