Over 45 professional and amateur skaters turned out to raise funds and awareness for the much-loved Foundation. The first major event to occur at world-class Stoner Skate Park drew local community members and top names in skateboarding including Eric Koston, Heath Kirchart, Mike Carroll, Vincent Alvarez, Dustin Dollin, Josh Kalis, Alex Olson, David Gonzales, Matt Miller, Theotis Beasley, Raven Tershy, and many more. Perfect Memorial Weekend weather saw progressive tricks and unbelievable jam sessions for a packed plaza. On hand to witness it all was child, Dylan Matheu, who not only got to meet every professional skateboarder he’d ever dreamed of, he was able to skate and hang with them at his leisure. “Today’s event was great! It was so wonderful to see the skateboard community embrace the Foundation,” said Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles Corporate Alliances Manager, Brooke Dafesh. “We are so grateful of all the support and money that was raised to help us continue to grant the wishes of children.” As the event came towards a close, legendary wildchild Dustin Dollin swooped in unannounced ripped the park and then surprisingly matched the first prize donation of $2,500. “Today’s event could not have gone better, great weather, tons of great skateboarding and having the support from the local community and the skate industry to focus on a great cause was amazing,” said SKATEBOARDER Editor, Jaime Owens. “And what a better way to end the day was having our friend Dustin Dollin match the top prize donation. It was fantastic.” “Best Trick” Contest Results: 1st: Jordan Hoffart $2500 2nd: Micky Papa $1500 3rd: Jordan Maxham $1000 Each rider will have the winning prize money donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in their name. Zumiez Contest At Tempe Skate Park

Tempe skatepark, outside of Phoenix was the host for this years Zumiez Best Foot Forward contest. While the weather was undoubtedly hot, there was no stopping the over fifty contenders who clamored for their shot at first place. This park has the street obstacles that take a skill level of only the serious skaters. We chose four areas and let the homies battle it out in a jam format. Check out the video! Skateboarder Magazine Stoner Skate Park Jam

SKATEBOARDER Magazine is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Make-A-Wish Foundation Best Trick & Skate Jam Benefit on Saturday, May 28, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stoner Skate Plaza in Los Angeles, California. “With the success of last year’s event, we knew we had to do it again this year,” said Jaime Owens, Editor of SKATEBOARDER Magazine. “We’re hoping it will be bigger and better this year and raise even more money for an incredible cause that we can all get behind.” This event will help the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant the wish of a child who has yet to be determined. “We are so fortunate to have SKATEBOARDER Magazine as a wonderful partner,” said Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles Corporate Alliances Manager, Brooke Dafesh. “We truly appreciate all of the money raised to help us continue to grant the wishes of children.” Last year, the event raised more than $3,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Los Angeles and enhanced the wish of 18-year-old Brian, who wished to have filmmaking equipment. Not only did he get to use his new camera to film pro skaters at the Skate Jam that day, but he also received filming tips from SKATEBOARDER’s own Jaime Owens, met and hung out with pros like Ryan Sheckler, Joey Brezinski, and Lance Mountain who autographed his poster and collab SKATEBOARDER-Black Label deck. This year’s event is located at Stoner Park, 1835 Stoner Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90025-1841 and open to the public to attend. The Make-A-Wish Foundation Best Trick & Skate Jam Benefit boasts the opportunity to witness the top names in professional skateboarding compete in a series of “Best Trick” contests. And once again, the fine folks at SPoTlight Productions will be lending their time, talents, and expertise to judge and announce at the event. “They are such a respected and professional crew in the skate industry,” Jaime Owens said, “it is a no-brainer to have them involved.” A special thanks to Red Bull. Without their involvement, this event would not be possible. To view more photos of this park, click here: http://www.sitedesigngroup.com/projects/details/los-angeles-ca-2
